A Maori twist symbolises the path of life. It is believed to have been based on Maori kete basket weaving. The path of life takes many twists and turns but carries on regardless. In the case of the Single Twist, the design simply means the path of life and can be called the Maori Eternity Symbol.
Dale Borland was formed in 1972 by original partners Peter Dale McDermott and Brian Borland. Peter's middle name and Brians surname were combined to form the company name that remains today. In that same year current joint owner and managing director John Harrison started with the company. The company now has 40 years experience in the New Zealand souvenir industry. With the addition of middle son, Steven, Dale Borland has become a small family company. Product ranges are continuously being updated while NEW ranges are created to cater for the changing needs of New Zealand's Tourist and Traditional Gift market. Exclusive ranges include paua gift ware, high quality New Zealand souvenirs and jewellery. Certain Dale Borland products are made off shore, however Greenstone Pounamu is designed and made here in Hokitika, West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand.
